ON THE PROBLEM OF THE OBJECT OF SYNTAX AND THE TYPOLOGY OF SYNTAX UNITS

Abstract

Aim. Modern researchers and authors of syntax textbooks define the subject and object of syntax and types of syntactic units in different ways. To designate syntactic units, different terminological names are used, and the criteria and principles of their establishment and typology are often not exhaustively substantiated. Systemic and structural connections between units require justification and clarification. Solving the problem of the object of syntax and determining the consistent principles of the typology of syntactic units will make it possible to construct a consistent and objective interpretation of syntactic phenomena and units not only in the field of scientific knowledge, but also in the curriculum for institutions of higher and, later, secondary education. Today, both in the scientific grammatical paradigm, and in particular in the educational one, the proposed material suffers from inconsistency and unresolved contradictions, which traditionally migrate in linguistic presentations of various genres. The purpose of the article is to propose, on the basis of structural and syntactic categories inherent in syntax, the scope and terminological definition of a syntactic object and fundamental syntactic units.
