ABOUT CULTURE AND FREEDOM OF SPEECH AND THOUGHT OF THE UKRAINIAN PEOPLE

Abstract

The article is dedicated to complicated nature of the language, spiritual potentiality of the word, importance of the speech norm and difficult outcomes of the semi-literacy epidemic in Ukraine that reached the elite: statesmen, scientists, literators, pedagogues. On the numerous examples the author shows how elementary ignorance of the language turns into shallowness of a thought, disorder in a matter, misunderstanding, curiosities. The state of a low level of culture of the word and semi-speech poses danger of spiritual impoverishness, slave unwillingness and captivity supported by denationalized and assimilative speech guides and distorted models that are imposed on the society and, first of all, on the school.
