THE SEMANTIC SPACE OF COMPARISONS IN THE POETIC LANGUAGE OF KISELYUK'S NOVEL

Abstract

In the article, for the first time, a structural-semantic description of the comparative turns in the poetic collection "My mountain goat" by Roman Kiselyuk is carried out.The research was carried out on the material of the file of comparative compounds of the analyzed collection compiled by the author of the article, which includes 370 items.From the structural side, the poetic language of the writer is dominated by conjunctive comparisons.The specifics of the conjunctions used to join the comparative component, as well as non-objective constructions expressed by the form of instrumental comparison and comparative adverbs, are described.An analysis of expanded comparative constructions is also provided, which cause the reader many associations and analogies based on many features of the object of comparison.

It is noted that the core of comparisons consists of images of nature, the animal and plant world, temporal concepts, mythologies, beliefs, stereotypes of people, etc., and this determines the semantic principle of presenting comparative phrases.Based on this, groups of comparative phrases are distinguished, the objects of comparison in which are words that concentrate the main figurative and expressive content of the comparison: the names of the universe, its luminaries, natural and atmospheric phenomena;names of religious and biblical concepts;names of trees, plants;names of animals and reptiles;names of geographical and toponymic concepts;names of buildings, objects, structures;names of mythical creatures;names of musical instruments;substantive adjectives are figurative characteristics of a person.

It is concluded that comparative turns are the dominant poetic idiostyle of the writer and can serve as reliable material for research on the stylistics of the modern Ukrainian language, dialectology, ethnolinguistics.
