EVALUATION OF RISK IN PATIENTS WITH FAMILY HISTORY OF MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS USING THE NEW BIOMARKER
Keywords:
multiple sclerosis, disease risk, biomarker.Abstract
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a multifactor, polygenic disease that most likely develops due to specific combination of genetic and environmental factors. Considering the role of genetic issues in MS etiology, the aim of the research was to analyze correlation between detection of the new biomarker, 48 kDa unconventional myosin 1 c isoform, in blood serum of MS patients and their family history (presence of relatives who have MS). It could help to evaluate the risk of MS in relatives of patients and therefore improve diagnostics in case they have any neurological or radiological symptoms.
