Evaluating the results of studies of different authors, one can conclude that there is the Ukrainian population’s high necessity of both dental care in general and of the orthopedic care in particular. The prevalence of main dental diseases among the adult population in recent years has a tendency to increase, despite the rapid development of the branch, which involves the introduction of new techniques and technologies into practice, despite the development of numerous preventive and therapeutic measures to protect teeth, defects of dental hard tissues remain the most common form of lesions of the dentofacial system.

In modern clinical practice, dentists for replacement of dental hard tissues’ defects are offered methods of direct restoration by composites and indirect restoration, by means of laboratory prostheses’ work-up from various materials. There is also a third method for defects’ restoration of hard dental tissues, which was offered by D. Dietschi – a semi-direct restoration. This technique is not as widely used in modern dentistry as the first two ones.

On the basis of literature analysis, it was concluded that the complications arising after various types of restorations are often due to mistakes made by dentists at the stage of choosing the method of treatment, during the process of restoration, as well as due to the patients’ non-compliance to the recommendations of these doctors. Thus, the problem of choosing a method of hard dental tissues defects’ treatment needs to be thoroughly studied.
O. V Bulbuk M. M.
